Congratulations to the following senior grades who were recently awarded their next dan grades:

Colin Clapperton to 8th Dan
Alan Purdie to 5th Dan
Steven Adam to 4th Dan

The SKF hosted the 37th European Wado Cup in Edinburgh on 31st October 2009. 16 countries from across Europe took part and Scotland topped the medal table with 13 Gold, 13 Silver and Bronze medals. Full Results are now available together with around 700 photos from the event.

Congratulations to Chloe Maclean who won a Bronze Medal at the recent World Junior Karate Championships, which were held in Morocco. Chloe fought in the female under 21 years, -53kg section.

The Bathgate Kata Class will be on all Sundays in November.

I am pleased to announce that GRAHAM MCCANN 5th Dan (shukokai) and
BILLY HAGGARTY 5th Dan (shotokan) will be attending the kata class on
Sunday 15th November 6.30 – 7.30pm to teach us two katas from their
styles. This is a wonderful opportunity for Wado students to learn
katas from other styles which may help when competing in All styles
events.

Most of you will recognise them both as kata judges and referees at
most of all the competitions that you enter.
Hope to see most of you there and hopefully some new faces.

Congratulations to all members of the SKF who travelled to Dublin, Ireland to take part in the IWKA-AMA Open International Karate Championships 2009. The SKF topped the medal table winning 20 gold, 10 silver and 19 bronze medals at the event. Full results here.

The selections to choose the SKF Kata competitors for the forthcoming Wado European championships will take place in Meadowbank sports centre on Saturday 10th October from 2pm to 3pm.

The S.K.F have preselected some places following on results from the last European, British, Commonwealth, Scottish Open and Scottish National Championships. As some places have already been selected, and it is only three kata competitors per category per country the following places are open for selection on the 10th October.
